Key Responsibilities

As a Vehicle Damage Paint Technician Apprentice, you will:

• Prepare Vehicles for Painting: Conduct vehicle preparation, including sanding down panels using different grades of sandpaper and a dual-action sander.
• Mask Vehicles: Accurately mask vehicles in readiness for painting, ensuring all surfaces are adequately protected.
• Spray and Finish Vehicles: Execute precise spray painting and finishing techniques on new and used cars/light commercial vehicles to meet the highest quality standards.
• Conduct Filler Work and Repairs: Perform filler work and execute small repairs efficiently.
• Ensure Quality: Complete vehicles to an exceptional standard, ensuring each finished vehicle is defect-free and meets both company and customer expectations.

• Off-the-Job Training: Approximately 20% of your total work hours will be dedicated to off-the-job training, which includes online classrooms and face-to-face learning at The Performance Academy in Coventry.

Qualifications

• Duration: The program lasts 24-40 months, culminating in a nationally recognized qualification:
  • Level 2 Autocare: 12 months
  • Level 3 Light Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician: 24-26 months

Salary

Compensation is determined by individual employers. All employers are required to pay, at a minimum, the National Apprenticeship Wage.

Entry Requirements and Qualifications

• Age: 16+
• Education: Grade C/4 or above in Maths and English or equivalent.
• Interest: A strong interest in learning about the service and maintenance of petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric vehicles.
• Skills:
